Food and Accommodation at Poonhill trek

On the Poonhill trip, everyone’s top priorities are food and lodging. Since Poonhill is located in a rural section of the nation, there are no five-star hotels there, yet we can nevertheless offer first-rate hotels and lodges. The majority of the teahouses have twin-sharing arrangements, while single bedrooms can be arranged upon request.

Food is necessary during the hike. The primary source of energy for this expedition is food burning. In Nepalese, the phrase “Dal Bhat power, 24 hours” refers to the ability to endure for practically a day after consuming dal bhat. The national dish is dal bhat, however other dishes can be made, including vegetable and noodle soups.

We advise you to stay away from dairy items, hard drinks, and beverages with a lot of caffeine since they could be harmful to your physiology and health at higher altitudes.

Essential Info:

Best Season/Best Time to do PoonHill Trek

In a couple of days, the trek to Poon Hill is possibly the most liked short Nepal trekking activity for amazing panoramic views of the mountain peaks: Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. These walks will take you right through rich rhododendron forests, several appealing Gurung villages, and a recently terraced field, an excellent avenue to enjoy the natural experience mixed with culture in the Annapurna region. Spring and autumn are the best times of the year for this trek, having the best climatic conditions with the sharpest view of the mountain peaks.

Spring Season:

The spring season is really one of the finest periods to visit on a 2-Day PoonHill Trek. During this time, it has mild weather; this is why daytime temperatures become pleasant and cooler nights ideal for trekking. The trails are lined with rhododendron forests that bloom with their flowers in full bloom, adding color and fragrance to your journey. The visibility is usually great, allowing you to see the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges without any hindrance. This is a popular time for trekkers, so you will meet a good number of fellow hikers on the trail, adding to the lively atmosphere.

Autumn Season :

This is considered peak trekking season in Nepal, and for reasons not unrelated to the stable weather, with clear skies and mild temperatures during the day. The trail is normally pretty dry from the recent monsoon season, and often the surrounding mountain views are crystal clear. After the monsoon, landscapes are lush green and, hence, very scenic with terraced fields and forests looking vibrant. The cool nights and warm days make for perfect conditions on the trek, accommodating even both the experienced as well as the novice of the trekkers.

Summer Season :

Summer shares a timing with the monsoon period in Nepal; the monsoon brings heavy rainfalls, muddy trails, with an extra chance of the company of leeches. The trail becomes slippery due to which the risks on the path increase, clouds, and mist blind the magnificent mountain views. But during this time, the greenery around is in its full flush, and the landscapes wear a vibrant look. Again, this season also expects less number of tourists than other seasons, and there is much tranquility due to less crowding in spite of wet conditions and visibility factors.

Winter Season :

Trekking in winter exudes tranquility in uniqueness. The weather is cold: from cool to chilly daytime temperatures, nighttime temperatures can get below freezing at higher altitude, especially at PoonHill. Some snow accumulation at the higher elevations may be in for a scenic touch that could make the trek somewhat look like in a winter wonderland. Often, the views of the snow-capped peaks of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machapuchare are stunning, with crisp and clear air. However, cold may be a little bit uncomfortable for some, especially at night, so one should not forget to take warm clothes with them. Winter is ideal for those seeking solitude and pristine mountain vistas, but it is important to be well-prepared for the cold.

What makes 2 days of Poonhill trekking special?

The 2-day Poonhill trek is the easiest trekking route.  So, you don’t need any prior trekking experience. It is possible to go from Pokhara to Poon Hill in a single day. Due to its location within the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), there is a chance that you may come into contact with various animals, including deer, wild boar, and monkeys. The Rhododendron blooms that appear in the jungle from the end of March to the middle of April are a springtime delight. Everyone who enjoys hiking may do the Poon Hill Trek from Pokhara. Gurung communities are so welcoming during the trek. Due to the simple access from the city and the short and simple hikes, this is appropriate for family groups, senior citizens, and student groups as well. Poonhill Trek Difficulty

Poonhill Trek difficulty is the world’s easiest trek. Despite not being very difficult, this journey requires the trekker to be in good physical and mental health. One shouldn’t have heart and lung conditions as well as knee or ankle issues.

This hike can be done in 5 to 6 hours of walking per day with adequate rest. A month or two before the journey date, you should start exercising and getting ready for this trip. These could include daily walking, going on hikes, taking a big walk once a week, practicing breathing techniques connected to yoga, etc.

Tipping During the Trekking

Tipping is a personal way for you to express appreciation for your services. You may want to leave a tip for the services you appreciate, or you may just want to express your gratitude in Nepali by saying “DHANYABAD.”

The final day of the vacation is typically when tips are given. Similar to this, trekkers are free to tip a hotel, lodge, or individual on whatever day they choose. Tipping is purely a matter of personal preference and perspective.

Altitude Sickness and Acclimatisation

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) symptoms can appear at elevations above 2000 meters above sea level because there is less oxygen in the air, which makes breathing difficult. The signs and symptoms of AMS include nausea, fatigue, headache, and dizziness.

Keep in mind that the Poonhill Trek will take you above 2500 meters, which reduces your risk of developing AMS. To help your body adjust to the thin air, walk gradually and gently. There is a danger that you could develop AMS if you try to move quickly and cover a large area at a high altitude. To prevent the situation from getting worse, vigilance should be exercised. Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated, and eat a balanced diet of foods to help your body feel more energized.

Travel Insurance

A quality travel insurance policy that provides adequate coverage for all of your activities is crucial for the Poonhill Trek. During the journey, anything may happen. Even though we are more concerned with safety, accidents and emergencies can sometimes happen where we are going.

Physical injuries, helicopter evacuation, medical costs, and any other situations you can face while trekking should all be covered by your travel insurance policy.

Drinking Water on Poonhill Trek

Trekkers must drink plenty of water to keep their bodies hydrated and avoid altitude sickness (AMS) (Acute Mountain Sickness). Three to four liters of water per day should be consumed while climbing up Poonhill.

Instead of purchasing bottled water, we strongly advise you to carry one reusable water container that can hold hot water. In addition to being pricey, bottled water might cause severe issues in the Annapurna region. Water purification tablets can be used to clean water. But after taking tablets, the flavor will change. Water should always be consumed after sufficient cleansing. Both the teahouse and the tent have access to boiled water.
