Overview:

Pikey Peak Trek -8 Days

Pikey Peak Trek is a recently developed hiking path in the Khumbu region that offers us a close-up view of Everest and the lower Khumbu region in addition to stunning sceneries. It will be a memory you will have for the rest of your life to see the dawn and sunset over the enormous peaks. You will have the chance to learn about the unusual geography and the life it supports in addition to taking in the magnificent Himalayan views. The fascinating Sherpa Culture and their kindness are unmistakable. Given that it is a recently discovered hiking trail, it provides a unique and isolated trekking experience.

Pikey Peak is the best vantage point which offers amazing views of mountain ranges in the Everest region according to Sir Edmund Hillary, Pikey Peak offers the best vista of the Everest region. Wide-angle views of the eight-thousanders in the Khumbu, including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and summit Kanchenjunga, are reportedly available from the hilltop. Also visible is the western Himalayan range, which includes Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu.

Pikey Peak trekking begins after a beautiful drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazar. Even though this trail has only recently been made available, hikers favor it because it originates in the Lower Khumbu region. Despite being in a lower elevation range, the area is renowned for offering stunning views of Mt. Everest (8848m) and its adjacent peaks. The legendary journey travels to the Pikey Base Camp with a thick distribution of rich Buddhist culture along the way and is regarded as one of the best short treks.

The main draws of the Pikey Peak trekking path are the lush valleys, ancient monasteries, enormous Mani walls, lovely greenery, and rhododendron woods, as well as the stunning sunrise and sunset vistas. Pikey Peak is renowned for its serene surroundings, distinctive Sherpa culture, and stunning mountain views. The trail travels through less populated sections of the Khumbu region, including small settlements and rhododendron forests. The serene surroundings and panoramic vistas of the Himalayas give off a magical aura that draws in large numbers of visitors.

Tour Pokhara is a legally registered company in Nepal that provides the best package for the Pikey Peak trek. Our team offers amazing accommodation, accessibility, and amenities service to our guests as per their wants and demand. Typical Journey on Pikey Peak trekking

Your journey to Pikey Peak begins by exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites to discover the beauties of Kathmandu. Take a long trip to the Lower Solukhumbu district the following day after finishing all of your preparations. Start the hike to Sigane or Japre village after passing through a tiny settlement called Dhap by following subalpine woodland. Jhapre offers the first views of Mount Everest and the Numbur Himalayan range.

Trek to Pikey Peak Base Camp after spending the night in Jhapre. The majority of the trail is quiet and uninhabited, with magnificent views of the mountains in the Everest region. Reach the base camp for the night after passing a grassy ridge and an old yak herders’ home. On the fifth day, climb to the anticipated Pikey Peak peak at 4,065m/13,336ft before daybreak. Mountains including Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Kanchenjunga, and Lhotse may be seen in the eastern region, and Annapurna and Manaslu Dhaulagiri are visible in the western region.

As you descend to base camp and resume your ascent to Ngaur, take in the scenery. Visit the nearby cheese factory and an old gompa’s ruins. To go to Junbesi for an overnight stay, descend. Follow the descending dusty trail along the Junbesi Khola until you reach a steel suspension bridge, then continue on the trail to Phaplu. Drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu, passing the Tama Koshi and Bhote Koshi tributaries as you bid the Solukhumbu region farewell. Once in the Kathmandu Valley, start gathering mementos and have a good time.

Best time to do Pikey Peak Trek

Spring and Autumn are considered the best time for Pikey Peak. Spring that falls between February to April has the best-achieved climate. During Spring, the sight of lush green forests and blooming rhododendron welcomes you. This is the best season to witness the flowering plants with fabulous mountain views. The temperatures are mild and hot at lower levels, and it gets colder as you climb higher elevations.

Autumn

Autumn falls between September to November in Nepal which is considered the best season to go to Pikey Peak trek. During the autumn season, the weather is clear and the skies are blue. This period of time experiences consistent, dry, and sunny weather with unobstructed views of the nearby Himalayas. While the evenings might be chilly, especially at higher altitudes, the days are typically pleasant and comfortable for walking.

Spring

Spring is another best season for the Pikey Peak trek. In Nepal, Spring falls between March to May. This time of year, is usually consistent, with mid-range temperatures, clear skies, and moderate humidity. The trail is also lined with stunning rhododendron blossoms, along with other vibrant wildflowers, making for a truly picturesque and vibrant experience. The scent of blossoming flowers permeates the trail, giving hikers a delightful experience. A spectacular view of the Himalayan peaks is available to trekkers during this time.

Winter

Trekking up Pikey Peak in the winter is possible, although difficult due to the chilly and snowy conditions. This time of the year can be extremely cold, especially at higher elevations, and there may even be snowfall, making it more challenging to manage the trekking track. One benefit of trekking in the winter is that there are fewer people on the trail, making for a more tranquil and relaxing experience. Additionally breathtaking are the views of the Himalayas in the area, particularly after a recent snowfall. For those who are equipped to handle the difficulties of the cold and snowy weather, climbing Pikey Peak during the winter can be a pleasant and memorable experience.

Monsoon

Monsoon is not recommended season for the Pikey Peak trek because of the high amounts of rain that can make the trail muddy, slippery, and challenging to manage. Monsoon falls between June to August in Nepal. The admiration of the breathtaking Himalayan views may also have an impact on visibility. Landslides and floods are also possible during Nepal’s monsoon season, which can be dangerous for trekkers. Therefore, before starting the journey, it is imperative to examine the weather forecast and path conditions. To keep dry and comfortable, you must have the proper footwear and weather gear on hand. It is advised against undertaking the Pikey Peak during the rainy season due to its difficulty and risk.

Itinerary:

Welcome to Nepal. Our representative will come to pick up you from the arrival terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport. Our agent will be there with a plyboard of your or your company’s name. Then you’ll be escorted to your respective hotel by private vehicle.

On the 2nd day, you’ll explore some of the major heritage sites of Kathmandu Valley. Kathmandu is a cultural city where seven heritage sites (Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and Changu Narayan temple) which are listed in World Heritage Sites by UNESCO are there.

After having breakfast, your day starts with our tour guide. Our tour guide will take you to historical places where you can see the different art, architecture, monuments, tradition, culture, and lifestyle of local people. After half day of sightseeing, you will be driven back to the hotel and will be briefed about the trek.

Overnight in Kathmandu

You will need to wake up early because you have to drive from Kathmandu to Dhap. The route follows the BP Highway, which was built by the Japanese, north of Kathmandu. The driving is smooth for the first half because the majority of the road is blacktopped. Following the path, the Sun Koshi River moves rapidly. You eventually arrive in Okhaldhunga through the twisting road. You reach Dhap, our starting location for the hike, after a steady ascent.

You’ll start your walk to Sigane or Japre village after refueling and eating some food in Dhap. The first leg of the trial takes place in a lovely village surrounded by sub-alpine flowers and rhododendrons.  As you approach Sigane village, the mountains begin to unfold. You are greeted by vistas of Mt. Everest and the Numbur Himal in the Sherpa homeland of Jhapre.

Overnight in Jhapre

One of the most exciting days of the trip is today since you’re going to Pikey Peak Base Camp. You will start your day early and then ascend to Bhulbhule’s grassy ridge. You then turn right to reach Pikey Peak from there. You will come across a mani stonewall and an old shepherd’s home. You will ultimately arrive at Pikey Peak Base Camp after passing through a lovely rhododendron woodland below Taklaung Danda. From here, the Everest Mountain range appears stunning. The majority of the path will be desolate and the natural world will be all to yourself because this is a very new hiking trail. From the base camp, the peak is only a few hours away, but the evenings are typically cloudy. Since this is the case, we prefer to climb the next day early in the morning.

Overnight in Pikey Peak Base Camp

The wait is finally over! On this day, you will go to the eagerly awaited peak of Pikey Peak. Get up early before dawn to take in the spectacular sights and start your trek from behind the tea house. The walk begins with a sloping, moderate climb. Winters at Pikey Peak are chilly, and the trail is partially covered in snow. The majority of the time, though, the ascent is straightforward.

A short while later, prayer flags would be covering the ridge. You have arrived at the top of Pikey Peak! Everything you’ve heard about this location is accurate, as you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas. This is possibly the best vantage point for views of the Everest range and Annapurna range. Mt. Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu can all be seen up close. On a clear day, Annapurna, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri can all be seen in views beyond 800km. The mountains glow golden and glitter when the sun’s rays hit them.

After there, take the trail that descends to go to Jase Bhanjyang through the rhododendron forests. Follow the lovely track until you reach Lamjura, where you may stop for a quick lunch and relaxation. The trail then gradually descends down the valley via luxuriant rhododendron trees, bringing you to Junbesi in a few hours. If you have time, you can explore the area’s historic monastery and take in the breathtaking views of the Numbur Chuli peak.

Overnight at Junbesi

This is the last foot walk for this trek. Follow the descending dusty trail along the Junbesi Khola until you reach a steel suspension bridge, then continue on the trail to Phalpu. You will arrive in Beni Ghat once you have crossed the bridge. Before reaching Phaplu, you will continue your stroll along the route lined with beautiful scenery. In the lower Solu Khumbu, this town serves as a gateway and the beginning point for numerous treks in the Everest region.

Overnight at Phaplu

After having breakfast at the Phaplu, you’ll drive to Kathmandu. Even though it is long as well as thrilling, the bus ride is exciting and has beautiful scenery. After stopping for lunch along the road, continue to the Arniko Highway. You will arrive in Dhulikhel and the Kathmandu valley in a few hours. Then you’ll be escorted to your respective hotel.

Overnight at Kathmandu

Today is your last day in Nepal. Our company representative will handle everything and drop you off at the airport in accordance with your flight schedule. If you have enough time, we can take you shopping while exploring.

Food & Accomodation:

Food and Accommodation on the Pikey Peak trek

The most essential things during the Pikey Peak trek are healthy food and comfortable accommodation. During your stay in Kathmandu, we provide a star hotel that ranges from 3-star to 5-star as per budget and comfort. But the Pikey Peak lies in a remote area where teahouses and lodges are available for accommodation. The local people welcome you warmly and offer you great hospitality service. Twin-sharing rooms are available with warm and comfortable beds. As per the guest’s preference, we can also manage the single bedroom.

During your stay in Kathmandu, you can have a variety of cuisine including Nepali, Indian, Italian, Chinese, Korean, and many more. But Pikey Peak lies in a rural area of Nepal, so it is not possible to have varieties of cuisine.  Burning food is the main source of energy for the journey. The phrase “Dal Bhat power, 24 hours” in Nepalese represents the capacity to survive for almost a day after consuming dal bhat. The national dish is dal bhat, but other cuisines, like vegetable and noodle soups, can be prepared.

Essential Info:

Acclimatization on Peaky Peak Trek

Acclimatization is a crucial component of high-altitude trekking. In order to avoid altitude sickness, which can be hazardous and even life-threatening, it is necessary to give your body time to acclimate to the low oxygen levels at high altitudes. To prevent altitude sickness on the Pikey Peak trip, it is advised to follow a steady ascent and fully acclimatize. Following are some pointers for acclimatizing when trekking:

  • Move slowly: Allow your body enough time to acclimate to the altitude as you ascend gradually. Do not attempt to speed the trek, and stop frequently to rest.
  • Drink plenty of fluids: Hydration is crucial in high-altitude areas. Drink at least 3 to 4 liters of water per day and avoid caffeine and alcohol.
  • Get enough rest: Give your body the time it needs to relax and fully recover. Try to go to bed early and stay away from physically demanding tasks.
  • Follow a healthy diet: Consume a well-balanced meal that is high in carbs and low in fat. Energy and acclimation are two benefits of carbohydrates.
  • Observe your health: Observe any altitude sickness symptoms, such as headaches, nausea, and exhaustion. A lower altitude should be reached right away if you notice any of these signs.

Pikey Peak trekking difficulties

Pikey Peak is an easy to moderate trek in terms of trekking difficulties, which can be done in a short time period. The maximum elevation attained during this trip is 4065 meters at the summit of Pikey Peak itself, which is located along the route in the lower Everest region. We won’t come across any difficult or steep paths along the trip, but we will need to walk for 5 to 6 hours per day, with ups and downs like in trekking. The majority of people, regardless of prior trekking expertise, can visit it due to its lower elevation. To effectively complete the walk, the trekkers must be both physically and mentally committed.

Pikey Peak trekking cost

The price of the Pikey Peak trek will vary depending on the services you need while on the journey. The cost fluctuates as rooms, accessibility, food, and amenities alter. Our normal trip cost starts at USD $750.  Despite the fact that costs are increasing in step with amenities and services.

The finest places to charge your electronic devices are the tea houses or lodges where you will be staying.

ATM and Currency Exchange

Travelers can easily obtain Nepalese currency in Nepal’s major urban centers of Kathmandu and Pokhara because of the abundance of easy ATMs and money exchange facilities that are available there. In remote locations, where only Nepalese money is used and modern banking facilities may be rare, these services might not be easily accessible.

Travelers are highly recommended to make plans ahead of time and convert their foreign currency for Nepalese currency before starting a trek to avoid probable inconveniences.
